It’s time to upgrade from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. If you are still having one of old school Ice Cream Sandwich running Android devices, then this news is certainly for you, as from now on Google has started ending support of Play Services for devices running Ice Cream Sandwich. Well, you might think that it’s not a big deal as not even 1% of people all over the world use Android Pie. Yes, that’s true. Most of the people are now running more latest version of Android.
But still that less than 1% accounts for about 6 million devices Worldwide. Which means it will be quite impossible for users to access play store on their devices.
Although, app developers, if they wish, can continue their support for Ice Cream Sandwich if they want from their . But, Google won’t entertain any issues pertaining to it. Given the poor overall state of Android software updates, chances are if you’re still using a phone with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, you’re probably not getting an update to Jelly Bean anytime soon. Maybe consider an upgrade to something a little more modern?
Older Android Versions
The move seems legit, and should have been taken long ago. In fact, even Jelly Bean sounds too much old school now as been a quite long time since its release in the market. Although these Android versions seemed absolutely best at their times, as time progresses things have to fade.
Even Google’s latest Android Pie doesn’t seem to provid all want. Although new gestures do seem to make it experience better and worthy, still quite surprising that they aren’t up to the mark when compared with gestures available on Android devices or even Custom UIs of devices including likes of MIUI and others. Upcoming Android Q is expected to be a major overhaul in terms of navigation.
