Honor View 20 Launched with Punch Hole Display

Here are the Price and Specs of Honor View 20 (Honor V20). The time when phones used to have huge bezels is long gone and in fact, the scenario has completely changed over the past couple of years.

Earlier the traditional 18:9 display was the most commonly used display resolution and almost everyone agreed that no one could ever replace it. But, that wasn’t certainly the case. Technologies evolved, came along the new 18:9 form factor, which seems to be old too nowadays, as 19:9 and 19.5:9 displays have started to show up.

In all this the ‘bezel-less’ smartphone battle, Honor has stepped one step forward with the launch of its new device Honor View 20. The thing which makes the device completely different from others is the new punch hole design factor. What we mean by that is the phone has got a hole in its top left corner which is just 4.5mm diameter in size and has hold of the front camera of the device.

The device has got a physical fingerprint scanner and not an in display embedded one which may sound a bit disappointing. The Punch hole display factor will certainly add much value to the visual user experience.

The phone has got a triple camera setup, which is found only in selected devices as of now. Although Samsung has already launched a device with four cameras, that seems for a completely different purpose.

The phone cameras are a solid combination of 48MP Sony IMX586 primary camera in addition to a Time of Flight (ToF) camera, which is said to support the 3D slimming feature.

Honor View 20 price in China starts at 2,999 yuan (Rs 30,000 approx) for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant will cost 3,499 yuan, which is around Rs 35,000 on conversion.

The phone can be booked from December 26 to December 27. The first sale will begin December 28 on Vmall, Tmall, Suning and more platforms. The company has launched 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model as well, which is priced at 3,999 yuan (Rs 40,500 approx).

Although, certain other manufacturers like Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi have launched various devices with motorized or manual sliders for the rear camera. Vivo’s Nex device also had a motorized panel which would show up when you launched the front camera.

Although it took less than a second to pop up, it did seem kind of sluggish and needed improvement.

The new punch hole design seems to be more promising and it will be quite interesting to see how it will cope up in the market.
