Apple Announces Free Repair for Some Faulty iPhone X and 13-Inch MacBook Pro Units. Apple has disclosed the fact that some limited number of its iPhone X devices have got issues with the screen. It was told that many of these devices don’t respond to touch immediately or response to touches even when not touched. Same goes for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, some of whose limited units have a potential risk of data damage and loss. Apple also said a “limited number” of 13-inch MacBook Pros have “an issue that may result in data loss and failure of the drive.” The laptops were sold from June 2017 to June 2018 with 128 gigabytes or 256 GB of storage and no Touch Bar, Apple said in a note to customers.
The company recommends affected users have their laptops “serviced as soon as possible.” In the case of the iPhone X, Apple is offering free screen replacements for the faulty devices, while it is offering free repairs for the MacBook Pros. Apple hadn’t previously responded to reports of problems with iPhone X screens, but it had opened similar replacement programs in the past for older iPhone models with screen issues, including the iPhone 6.
The move seems to be good, promising and positive in nature as this is the first time Apple has addressed issues in its own devices seriously. It’s not like Apple is the only brand whose limited number of phones already sold have various issues. Even phones from other brands have some sort of a limited number of devices with many issues. But unlike Apple, they never dare to confront it in front of everyone. And this can be accounted for one of the reasons for Apple devices being expensive.
