Microsoft is reportedly replacing Edge with a Chromium-based browser. Ever since the beginning, Microsoft has never been good when it comes to the browser for its very own Windows Operating system. Internet Explorer in the old days was terribly slow and was almost never used by the majority of users.

But, Microsoft did try changing the scenario by introducing a new browser Edge which was quite better as compared to Internet Explorer. Yet, it hasn’t been able to catch as much shine as it was expected to be.

In fact, the browser again has seemed to go down in its global usage as major half of the global Internet users still prefer to use Google Chrome as their primary browser.

As for what’s next for the Windows 10 default browser, the company is reportedly looking to Google for some help on that front. The next-gen browser is said to find Microsoft swapping Edge’s EdgeHTML rending engine for Chromium.

All of this is still early stages for the project that has been floating around with the internal name “Anaheim,” but Internet Explorer’s replacement’s replacement will hopefully address some stability and compatibility issues that have hampered adoption. It could also help the browser work better on those ARM-powered Windows machines.

The chromium-based browser is expected by the company to be more stable and reliable by the users. The company aims to garner more permanent users from over the world and bring a change in the bad image of Internet Explorer and now even Edge. Although, it will be interesting to see how this will bring an impact on Google’s Chrome browser and its users.
