WhatsApp users on Android, here’s another way to make smartphone payments.
WhatsApp earlier this year had started to work on UPI Payments feature which mainly focused on making sending and receiving payments easier for people. Although the feature is still in beta testing and still limited to a selected number of beta testers. But if you already have the feature enabled, you should update to the latest version v2.18.93. Why? Because now you can simply scan QR codes from the recipient’s phone to send payments with no hassle of entering UPI Address.
To avail this feature, go inside Settings> Payments> New Payment> Scan QR Code
If you are receiving then tap the three-dot menu and select Show QR Code.
Recently, WhatsApp announced that it has partnered with various banks in the country to enable the payment option. The list of banks which appeared in the list in the app include ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, SBI, Yes Bank and others. Apart from the regular banks, the app will also support Airtel Payments bank.
