What is Deep Web?

The Deep Web is also known as the Hidden Web Invisible Web. The Deep Web also a part of the World Wide Web which can be accessed through the Tor browser. Before going deep into Deep Web, let me classify the Internet. There are two parts of the internet known as:

  • Surface Web
  • Deep Web

Surface Web

The Surface Web is also known as the Clear Web which is indexed on search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc., These websites could be accessed from normal browsers without having any kind of special software. Only 4% of web content is available on Surface Web and the remaining contents belonged to Deep Web or Invisible Web.

Deep WEB

The Deep Web is hidden from the normal Search engines to index. The term Dark Net can be used to describe all non-commercial sites on the Internet, or to refer to all underground web communications and technologies, most commonly those associated with illegal activity or dissent

Dark Net has been around for a decade or so. Some of the most well-known are from the Tor network; Silk Road, Wikileaks, Silk Road 2, StrongBox, and so on. For good or bad, the Silk Road is what helped bring Dark Net to the masses.

These Dark Net can only be accessed through the trusted Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connection sometimes called friends (F2F). Which can be possible through the TOR(The Onion Router) browser.

TOR is a free software basically a browser, which enabling anonymous communication and it directs the Internet Traffic through a free, worldwide volunteer network consisting of more than six thousand relays to conceal a user’s location and usage from anyone conducting network surveillance or traffic analysis.

Using Tor makes it more difficult for Internet activity to be traced back to the user: this includes visits to Web sites, online posts, instant messages, and other communication forms.
