WhatsApp stickers start coming in regional languages

WhatsApp stickers start coming in regional languages. It has not been quite long time since WhatsApp released support for stickers in its app and now the best part is that developers are trying to add local regional stickers into the app as well.

WhatsApp has not included native support for stickers just yet, which are available for beta users within the app called ‘Malayalam WhatsApp Stickers’. Jose Varghese, co-creator of the app told that it was only submitted to Google Play Store on October 31, but has been downloaded about 43,000 times. As of now, only WhatsApp beta testers can add these stickers to their app. “Once the WhatsApp release the public version it will be accessible for the public, but we cannot say when as that’s full with WhatsApp”.

The app is having 200 stickers as of now and plans to add more in the future. WhatsApp has included their own stickers as well as a smiling teacup and crying broken heart. However, festival-specific stickers in regional languages seem to be getting more popular on the platform, which is one of the most sought-after platforms to exchange wishes, etc on festivals. On Diwali in 2016, a total of 8 billion messages were shared on the platform only second to 14 billion messages sent on December 31 last year. WhatsApp also plans to add support for more in the future. Addition of stickers in WhatsApp will certainly now give it an edge over other social messaging apps.
