Google Challenges CCI on imposing ₹1.36 billion fine

Google appeals against a fine of Rs 1.36 billion imposed by antitrust watchdog CCI:

Google has filed an appeal at the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal against an order for being guilty of ‘search bias‘. In February, the Competition Commission of India imposed a 1.36 billion rupees ($20.95 million) fine on Google. Saying it was abusing its dominance in online web search and online search advertising markets, in the latest regulatory setback for the world’s most popular internet search engine.

Although Google didn’t respond or comment anything on the matter when asked. But, it is a symptom expressing how heavily we are surrounded by Google and its services and how tough is it for us to get rid of them. A ‘search bias‘ on one of the world’s biggest Internet Giants is nothing to be afraid of for Google. In India, the Commission found that Google, through its search design, had placed its commercial flight search function. It was at a prominent position on the search results page to the disadvantage of businesses trying to gain market access.
