Apple to update iPhone to avoid China Ban
Apple to update iPhones to avoid China Ban. The long-running lawsuit case of Qualcomm vs Apple seems to have got an interesting turn, as a court in China has banned the sales of many of the iPhones in the country.
The move comes in after Qualcomm was granted an Injunction against Apple. This comes as shocking for the tech giant Apple as it never expected something like this to happen ever. Although the case has never been in the complete hands of any party. There have some wins for Qualcomm and some for Apple too.
According to a report in The New York Times on Friday, the Cupertino-based tech giant said it would update the software of iPhones in China early next week to try to resolve the legal dispute. The company said it would update its iPhones “to address any possible concern about our compliance with the order”.
Apple has stated that this update will make sure that none of their iPhones stand against the violation set by Qualcomm regarding app switching and size of photos.
Even Apple has accused Qualcomm for playing cheap dirty tricks. Qualcomm certainly has a big name when it comes to the chipset and processor industry.
Qualcomm’s effort to ban our products is another desperate move by a company whose illegal practices are under investigation by regulators around the world,” Apple said in a statement earlier this week.
Although, the ban imposed by the Chinese court is not valid on the latest iPhones such as iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus or iPhone XR, which were not yet available when Qualcomm filed its lawsuit.
The battle is intense and China is certainly a huge market when it comes to tech-related products and a ban on iPhones in China could be a devastating blow to Apple’s market. Apple is already facing losses due to its unexpected low sales of the iPhone X and it would certainly want to get over it.
